Boundaries Around Work

Boundaries are a tool that are essential in the journey back to balance.

As an overachiever, I had no boundaries around work. I worked from the time I woke up until I went to bed. If I wasn’t sitting in front of a computer, I was working in my head.

I set boundaries and then worked on my inclination to want to break the rules again and again and again. I started with work information “fasting”.

I wanted to be someone who wasn’t looking at anything work related between the hours of 9:00 PM and 9:00 AM. I started by figuring out when I was starting/stopping looking at things. It was basically from the time I woke up until I went to bed. I then had gradual goals of 30 minutes more and less. It was hard. I messed up, over and over again. But I didn’t give up. I gradually got there.

Even though I don’t look at any work related information between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, my brain still wants me to. She tells me we aren’t doing enough. She tells me that I should be doing something productive. I hear her now and tell her it’s ok, that’s just something we were taught.

I can help you get there too. We’ll dive into how you think about self care, time, achievement, relationships and stress. I’ll teach you how to process the anxiety that you are covering up with overworking or other forms of overdesire.

You’ll end up in a place with 80% less stress, a balanced, intentional life and the tools you need to manage your brain and nervous system for the rest of your life. Click here to schedule an appointment.
